Moat View Riding Club from Kent were crowned British Riding Clubs Quadrille Champions at Olympia London International Horse Show on Saturday (19 December).
The win is the club’s third successive victory in the championship sponsored by South Essex Insurance Brokers Ltd (SEIB).
The winning team members were Nicky Murrell riding Horton’s Connor, Jo Cocker (Jack the Lad), Rosemary Williams (Old Park Rose) and Amy Williams (Horton’s Pink Panther). They received their trophy from Nicky Mackenzie, Marketing Manager of SEIB.
The four teams contesting the final were judged by BHS President Desi Dillingham MBE, Mike Tucker and Inspector Alan Hiscox. The judges focused on turnout, content, performance and general artistic impression. Moat View scored highly in each area with their ‘EquiMarine’ routine, particularly impressing with their turnout.
Second place was taken by Saffron Walden and District with their theme of Ride of the Valkyries. The team’s bold movements and brave performance meant they were only a few marks short of the winners. Bromyard and District performed their ‘Starlight Express’ routine to take third on their first appearance at Olympia. In fourth place came Wey Valley with Jest 4 You!
Desi Dillingham MBE said: “The standard of the competition gets higher every year, Moat View were visually fantastic, though Saffron Walden were very close behind. I think it was the winners’ costumes that just gave them the edge.
