Pony Club Championships Seeks New Venue

Tuesday, July 11, 2006

After more than 8 happy and successful years at Sansaw Park, Shropshire, the increasing demand for flat land in order adequately to host one of the biggest horse shows/events in the country, has sadly forced The Pony Club’s National Championships to seek a new home from 2007.

The Pony Club Championships are the pinnacle for any Member competing in Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing, Polocrosse, Mounted Games or Horse & Pony Care. The four day Championships take place in August and are more commonly referred to by the estate hosting them. Latterly this has been ‘Sansaw’ and formerly ‘Weston’ (Park) and so the new host estate is guaranteed excellent awareness, if it needs it!

The Pony Club Council, which organises the highly successful event, is seeking enquiries from estates with flat ground in excess of 80 acres with access to a further minimum of 120 varied acres for the Cross Country Course, in an accessible location and with access to piped water.

Judy Edwards, Chief Executive of The Pony Club, the biggest youth organisation for both boys and girls in the country, said: “If we didn’t have to move we certainly wouldn’t as we have enjoyed a lovely relationship with Sansaw Park over the past 8 years but we need additional space to fulfill all our plans for the future and in particular we need more flat land.”

The Pony Club is looking particularly for a new site on which to build and develop its own Cross Country course. If you think that you may have a suitable site and would be interested in hosting these prestigious Championships please contact Sarah Foss, PA to the Chief Executive on 024 7669 8300.
