Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials is to refund British Dressage riders caught up in the date clash between this leading event and the Deluxe Dressage National Dressage Championships, rescheduled to 9-12 September.

Event Director, Mandy Hervieu explains, “It became apparent that, in light of a visit from Pope Benedict XVI, British Dressage had no alternative but to bring their championship date forward and thus we have offered to refund dressage championship competitors who have bought advance tickets.”

Supporters will be able to attend both events at some point over the four days and Mandy says, “We hope that the date clash will not adversely affect either event too much. Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials is aimed more at Eventing fans and as a great family day out; we have activities for all ages and interests going on alongside the two days of Dressage (Thursday and Friday) and then Cross-Country and Show Jumping on both Saturday and Sunday. In contrast the championships showcase pure dressage; the whole experience is very different and we’re confident there is room for both.”

She adds, “It is unfortunate, but British Eventing was advised as soon as possible, and we understand that there is an awful lot involved in organizing Championships and big events and so the options (for dates and venues) were limited.”
