Kathryn’s Wishes Come True
Kathryn Wheelock, currently Yorkshire’s most successful disabled dressage rider, has attracted the support of leading Bradford-based equestrian company, Matchmakers International Ltd. Matchmakers, which owns Harry Hall, Caldene, Masta, Cottage Craft and Westropp, and a number of other leading brands has donated nearly £500 worth of rugs, clothing and equipment to Kathryn in support of her bid to ride at the Paralympics in 2008.
Kathryn made a ‘Wish List’ of some of the products she liked, hoping that they might be able to donate one or two products. She was, therefore, thrilled when Sales and Marketing Manager at Matchmakers, Richard Lawrence, agreed to provide all the items from her list.
Kathryn was delighted to receive a white saddle cloth, white Harry Hall Ascot breeches, a velvet riding hat and a pair of rounded end spurs. “These will be great for when I’m competing in dressage,” said Kathryn, who also received some leisure clothing, and rugs for her horses, Indi and Winnie, and was treated to a ‘sneak preview’ of the Autumn collections from Harry Hall, Caldene and Masta. “As I have not been awarded any Lottery Funding, these donations of clothing and equipment are very much appreciated.”
Richard Lawrence commented, “We are pleased to be able to support a talented, local rider who has international aspirations.” Kathryn is aiming to compete on schoolmaster dressage horse, Indi, at international para-dressage competitions this year in both England and Holland, and possibly Belgium, and will compete in able-bodied Elementary classes.
