Fritzens CDI
Monday, July 16, 2007
British team member Emma Hindle and Lancet (pictured) were back on track at Fritzens CDI in Austria, 13-15 July 2007, after a disappointing Aachen CDIO the previous weekend. Emma and Brookhouse Stud’s 14-year-old Hanoverian stallion by Wenzel I took both the grand prix (70.583%) and grand prix special (71.2%) at this show for the second successive year.
Emma said: “Horses aren’t machines. People were talking about Britain being contenders for a European team bronze medal before Aachen. Whatever the results there, I still believe we have a strong team for the Europeans. You learn from every bad experience. It is better for it to go wrong in Aachen than at the Euros.”
Another British team member, Fiona Bigwood and Mr G de Lully, competed at Fritzens. They too were in good form, finishing second in the grand prix with 70.125% and third in the grand prix freestyle with 73.8%.
Emma also rode one of her “babies” for the first time in an international grand prix competition. With Fürstenreich, a nine-year-old Westfalian stallion by Florestan I, damsire Matador, Emma scored 62.917% to take 15th place in the grand prix and then moved up to 11th in the freestyle with 66.65%.
Emma, who has ridden him since he was three, said: “He is an exciting horse for the future and this was a nice start for his first international show.”
