Fry’s International CDI 2* Dressage Show
“Dancing Horses” Gala night
The third annual International CDI 2* Dressage Show, takes place this year from August 1-6 at Aike Grange Stud in the rural East Riding of Yorkshire, North East England. It is organised by Simon Fry and his wife Laura, who was a member of the1992 Olympic Dressage team. They began holding regular dressage events in the grounds of their home, Aike Grange Stud, eight years ago. Three years ago, the show gained official international status.
The full week of dressage culminates on Saturday 6 August with International and Young Horse classes, a Grand Prix Special, Intermediaire I Consolation and Young Rider Classes. During the evening, there is a spectacular Dancing Horses Music Gala Night including the Intermediaire I and Grand Prix Freestyles to Music, along with the presentation of the World Challenge. For the finale a musical spectacular by a Grand Prix horse and rider to offer the ultimate in “Dancing Horses”. Humberside Mounted Police will also perform and provide escort duties to prize giving and presentations. Front of house dining at the ringside Good Boys Restaurant is available.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are reserved for the Northern Regional Championships. On Wednesday 3 August, the international trot-up in front of the Vets (FEI), on Thursday 4, the Prix St Georges and Intermediaire II and on Friday, the Intermediaire I and Grand Prix take place.
There are three arenas at the Showground: one for warming up horses, a National Arena and an International Arena with tiered seating for spectators, as well as an Indoor School. Show visitors will find marquees for refreshments and trade stands selling everything for horses, from saddles and bits to horse boxes and blankets. Horses are all provided with temporary stabling with segregated areas for national and international competitors.
The Frys are delighted with the increasing popularity of the event. “We are now known as one of the premier dressage events on the Summer calendar, with competitors and spectators being drawn from further afield than ever,” said Simon. “The highest standards of dressage can be seen here and we are sure that everyone who comes will have an enjoyable day out and gain a great appreciation of this spectacular and exacting display of horsemanship.”
