Hickstead CDIO 2007

Britain finished in second place behind Germany and in front of Holland in the Nations Cup at Hickstead CDIO, West Sussex, 25-29 July 2007.

Emile Faurie achieved the best British placing, seventh, aboard Dream Of Heidelberg II. The other team members were Maria Eilberg (Two Sox), Wayne Channon (Lorenzo) and Stephanie Croxford (Mr President). Maria and Stephanie made it through to the freestyle, finishing seventh and eight respectively, the same placings they achieved in the special.

Holland’s Alex van Silfhout riding Luxforms Nimbly dominated the CDIO tour, winning the grand prix, grand prix special and grand prix freestyle.

In the CDI tour, Richard Barrett won his first international grand prix with Alcatraz while Spencer Wilton and Dolendo were back in action to head the special.

Gareth Hughes (pictured riding Aspen Grove Duvie) had a worthwhile visit to the show. In the small tour, he won the prix st georges, finished second in the intermediaire I and then won his first kür, the inter I freestyle, all with Sandman. He also won the Prestige Six-year-old National British Young Horse Championship with Aspen Grove Duvie.

Gary Williams and Showmaker dominated the five-year-old classes, heading the Prestige Five-year-old National and International British Horse Championships. Nicola Cooper and Falcao took the Berkeley Group Six-year-old International Young Horse Final.

Zoe Sleigh and Orvieto won the young rider team and individual tests and took the runner-up slot in the freestyle, which was won by Joanna James and Cavallino.

British team member at the Junior European Championships just two weeks ago, Melissa Beer and Celestial King, headed the individual and freestyle tests as well as finishing second in the team test, which was won by Jessica Chan and Mister Magic.
