There was a busy schedule today with the additional entertainment of the weekend, which included a master class with Emma Hindle, a display by El Caballo de Espana and a young rider “Timewarp!” quadrille.
Dodson & Horrell Novice Restricted Championship
- Lesley Tysoe and DHI Aqua Majestic
Based in Cheshire, Lesley is trained by Mike Jones and Stephen Clarke. She rode her own five-year-old 16.2hh German-bred gelding by Aquilino.
Biotal Equine Gold Medium Open Championship
- Peter Storr and Cocofino
Former national champion Peter rode the eight-year-old 17.2hh German-bred gelding by Weltmeyer, whom he owns with Hermione Black.
Easibed Grand Prix Championship
- Spencer Wilton and Dolendo
Gloucestershire-based Spencer and the 13-year-old 17.1hh Donnerhall gelding shot to fame last year. This year, Ann Cory and Carl Hester’s Dolendo was out of action for the early part of the season. They regained their winning form at Hickstead CDI to take the grand prix special.
Bates Intermediaire I Freestyle Championship
- Judy Harvey and Fitzcerraldo
Senior selector, List 1 judge and trainer Judy and Richard Heley’s German-bred nine-year-old 17.1hh gelding by Feuerbrand were on top form once again. They won the intermediaire II title here on the first day of the show.
