Some 400 competitors are converging on Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire for the 2007 Blue Waters National Dressage Championships, which runs from 13-16 September.

The first four champions of the show are:

NEW Equine Wear Elementary Restricted Champions

  • Daniel Henson and Land Vision

Based in Warwickshire, Daniel trains with Felicity Scott and owns the six-year-old by Broadstone Landmark. The combination also won the novice restricted title at this year’s winter championships.

NEW Equine Wear Elementary Open Champions

  • Jo Barry and Vivaldi I

Jo, who is from West Lothian and trains with Carl Hester, rode the five-year-old Dutch gelding by Rilke, whom she owns with Lady Hope. They are also the current novice winter freestyle champions.

Stellar Wealth Management Prix St Georges Champions

  • Gareth Hughes and Korenbloem Sandman

Gareth, who is from Oxfordshire and trains with Carl Hester, won the novice national championships with the now eight-year-old, who is owned by Rebecca Patmore, back in 2004. The 2006 medium and advanced medium winter champions have enjoyed several international small tour wins this season at Hickstead and Hartpury CDI.

TRM Intermediaire II Champions

  • Judy Harvey and Fitzcerraldo

Senior selector, judge and trainer Judy won her first national title here last year after competing at the nationals for some 25 consecutive years. Having won the 2006 intermediaire I title riding Richard Heley’s German-bred nine-year-old 17.1hh gelding by Feuerbrand, they moved up a level to take the inter II title this year.
