ANKY BOOKS HER PASSAGE TO OLYMPIA

The line-up for this year’s Olympia World Cup Dressage Qualifier (13-19 Dec) just couldn’t get better with the news that the greatest dressage rider of this generation, Anky van Grunsven (NED), will be riding at the show. Anky will be riding either IPS Krack C or Keltec Salinero, the horse on which she won the individual Gold in Athens, as well as the World Cup Final and the European Championships this year. The World Cup Dressage Qualifier is supported by The Berkeley Group and Horse & Hound.

Anky will be joined by other members of the glitterati of the Dressage world, including Edward Gal (NED), Isabel Werth (GER), and Kyra Kyrkland (FIN) which will give the famously discerning Olympia audience, the chance to see some of the most experienced riders in the world including two of the top three riders, on the FEI world rankings, in one arena on two nights.

Of the maximum 22 starters, the British entries are Henriette Andersen with Astonish, National Champion Laura Bechtolsheimer with Douglas Dorsey, Fiona Bigwood with Mr G De Lully, Wayne Channon with Lorenzo Ch and Emma Hindle with Lancet who will be competing in the UK for the first time at Olympia.

The Dressage show forms the first two days at Olympia, The London International Horse Show and the second of the two dressage days, which features the Kür (dressage to music) will include a special musical performance by Tenors Unlimited. Olympia is well known for using live music to entertain its audiences and the three tenors who make up Tenors Unlimited have performed alongside such notables as STING, soul diva Beyonce and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

One of the feature displays at this year’s show is the French Presidential Guard, La Garde Republicaine, which will begin its displays on Wednesday evening. The display involves riders with such a high level of skill that one of the riders, Hubert Perring, is also entered for the FEI World Cup Dressage Qualifier!

From 15th to 19th December show jumping comes to the fore and there will be two performances per day.
