Our Team for Aachen CDIO

Friday, May 12, 2006

The British Dressage selectors David Trott and Judy Harvey have chosen the team for the 2006 Aachen CDIO, Germany, 17-20 May: Emma Hindle (Lancet), Laura Bechtolsheimer (Douglas Dorsey), Sandy Phillips (Lara) and Richard Davison (Hiscox Karachi).

Apart from being one of the most popular and prestigious shows in the world, Aachen CDIO is generally considered the most important show of the season as a warm-up and indicator of a nation’s chances for the main championships of the year.

Wayne Channon, who was on Britain’s team for the 2005 European Dressage Championships, will not be competing at Aachen with his Dutch-bred stallion Lorenzo, who was withdrawn from the recent FEI World Cup Final due to injury. Their next show in preparation for their bid for a place on the team for the 2006 World Equestrian Games (22-26 August) will be the World Cup qualifier in Lipica, Slovenia, 1-4 June.

Nicola McGivern is resting Active Walero after the Spanish Sunshine Tour while Henriette Andersen and Astonish are planning to compete at Hansbeke CDI in Belgium, 12-14 May. Henriette will be joined by another eight Brits: Paul Hayler, Jane Bredin, Gemma Green, Andrew Gould, Emile Faurie, Maria Eilberg, Charlotte Edmonds and Dane Rawlins.
