CDIO Aachen is apart from being the nicest and most fabulous show in the World especially this year a final test and challenge for the Olympic teams. For Germany the Olympic team will be decided in Aachen, other teams have their final practice for Hong Kong.
From the determined Dutch Olympic squad only reserve rider Adelinde Cornelissen competed in Aachen. She had a smile all over her face saying: “I had a very good feeling, Parzival did his utmost! In contrast to the Dutch Olympic trials at Outdoor Gelderland and the CHIO Rotterdam he was not spooky at all here in Aachen. He just went for it. Great!” She ended at the runner up position, taking the Dutch team in her slipstream to the runner up position as well. Afterwards Adelinde had to explain about her background, riding Grand Prix for one and a half year only with her first Grand Prix horse. A girls’ dream.
As expected the German team by far won the nations competition. Isabell Werth had a well concentrated ride, leaving nothing to circumstances. “I hope I can keep this high level now to Hong Kongf”, Isabell said. “We are all looking forward to the Olympic Games without question.”
Martin Richenhagen accompanied the German squad as teamchef. He is judging himself and lives and works in Atlanta. “I would have rewarded the ride of Heike Kemmer aboard Bonaparte with 75%”, he complimented Heike who was in the lead of the ranking after the first Grand Prix day. Furthermore Richenhagen was happy to see an upward tendency in his squad and a very god atmosphere.
Matthias Alexander Rath and Sterntaler-Unicef disappointed by too many mistakes and ended at 18th position only. He had no explanation other than that possibly the concentration had not been there.
The Danish squad, having had a difficult time to get selected for the Olympic Games as they missed all official selection moments at the WEG 2006 and the EC 2007 now celebrated the third place, with two % advantage of the Swedes. Add the strong American team that just has been selected in San Juan Capistrano and image the interesting nation competition that can be expected in Hong Kong!
