German-based Fiona Bigwood led the British Nations Cup team into fourth place after finishing third in the grand prix with Mr G de Lully at Saumur CDIO in France, 3-6 May 2007.
Fiona, who rode the 14-year-old 16.1hh Swedish-bred gelding to score 69.042%, said: “He was not quite as good as he can be, he was a little hot as it was his first outdoor show of the season.”
Sadly the combination had to withdraw from the competition just 10mins before the grand prix special after the horse knocked himself.
"He was only lame for ten seconds or so, but I didn’t want to risk him. The vet checked him over when we got home and has not been able to find anything wrong. It was just not my show – our number was 13!"
Other British Nations Cup team members Anna Ross-Davies and Nicola Jourdain scored well in the grand prix freestyle. Anna and Liebling II finished sixth with 70.45% while Nicola Jourdain and Saint Swithens took 10th place with 69.25%.
In the pony team championship test, Alice Thompson and her striking 10-year-old 14.2hh dunn stallion Donnerblitz, by Donnerwetter, finished second with 70.105%.
