Six new riders have joined a star-studded line up for the Express Eventing International Cup, organisers revealed today.

Brit Lucy Wiegersma, Australian Olympic silver medallist Lucinda Fredericks, French rider Rodolphe Scherer, Italian Vittoria Pannizon, Kiwi Caroline Powell and American Philip Dutton have joined British Olympic medallists Mary King and William Fox-Pitt as competitors in the exciting new form of eventing.

Other top class international riders who have already signed up to take part in Express Eventing are Australian Olympic silver medallist Clayton Fredericks, Belgian Olympian Karin Donckers, Kiwi Olympian Andrew Nicholson, and German Dirk Schrade.

The Express Eventing International Cup, in association with British Eventing, will showcase the skill and excitement of three day eventing condensed into just half a day, inside an enclosed sporting arena.

This new competition is designed to broaden the appeal of the sport, while providing a showcase competition for eventing?s top riders. The inaugural event will be staged at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 30 November 2008 and then rolled out as a series of international competitions in major sporting locations around the world.

For the very first time, spectators will be able to watch all three disciplines from one seat, and follow the progress of every horse and rider at each stage of the competition.

Stuart Buntine, director of Tricorn Events, the organising company and former international rider, said: ?We were always determined that the event should give greater recognition to the sport?s elite riders. We have introduced an unprecedented pot of prize money ? £250,000 ? and the stage to showcase some of the most talented riders from around the world to a wider audience.
