With only a year to go until the 2012 Olympics, the British eventing national team coach, Yogi Breisner, will be putting some of our local riders and horses through their paces at a special equestrian event hosted by the British Red Cross.
Hear it from the expert
Yogi is one of the country’s most successful and respected trainers. He has ranked within the top ten of the world's three-day-event riders for four years. Since his appointment as world class performance manager and chef d’equipe to the British eventing team, the team has won 11 gold, eight silver and five bronze medals.
Yogi, who also continues to lecturer at the British Racing School, will be sharing his knowledge and experience at a lecture and demonstration on September 14. He will be exploring training from novice through to the more advanced horse and rider combination, looking at jumping, flat work and dressage.
Senior Community Fundraiser, Jacquie Fabb, said: “We are delighted that Yogi Breisner has decided to take time out from his rigorous training schedule to host this event for the British Red Cross. He is an idol to many aspiring horse riders across the country and will be giving invaluable insights at the Surrey event into the training that world-class riders have go through to compete in international events like the Olympics.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to see one of the country’s most successful and respected trainers whilst helping us to raise money to support the work of the Red Cross, we are also very grateful to our evet sponsors Allen & Page for their support”
Yogi said: "It is always fun and gives me great pleasure to do lecture/demonstrations, particularly this evening which is all in a good cause. It is interesting and inspiring to interact with the audience and work with some talented riders and horses".
Red Cross volunteers will also be giving first aid demonstrations, offering visitors the chance to learn vital, potentially life saving skills. The evening will culminate in a fund-raising raffle with prizes donated by both local and national equestrian companies.
This event will be held at Merrist Wood College in Guildford, Surrey, GU3 3PE. Doors open at 6:15pm and the event starts at 7:00pm. Tickets are £15 in advance or £20 on the door (if available).
