CCPR¹ congratulates London 2012

Howard Wells, CCPR Chair, today congratulated the Bid Team on London being elected as the host city for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and pledged the continued support of CCPR and its members to the London Games.

“The improvements in London’s bid in recent months have been immense; not just in technical terms but also in the way they have engaged with the voluntary sporting sector and really shown that the London Olympics would be of benefit to the whole of the UK.

We are delighted that London has been chosen to host the Games and pledge our support to provide all assistance we can over the next seven years.

The Olympics and the Olympic ideal highlight everything that is positive about sport and recreation in this country and I would like to thank London 2012 for allowing us the opportunity to show that the UK is capable of playing a leading role in International Sport once again. ”

CCPR has been delighted to be part of the London 2012 Volunteer Strategy Group and looks forward to continuing to contribute to that work, and other strategies, in the future.

The CCPR will be holding a joint conference with Business In Sport and Leisure (BISL) in September to bring together the public, private and voluntary sectors to look at the contribution we can all make to a successful Olympic Games in London.
