Improve Equestrian Tourism through BET qualifications
The British Horse Society is working alongside a number of equestrian tourism partners to bolster professional qualifications at holiday riding centres.
The BHS has teamed up with The Trekking & Riding Society of Scotland, The Association of Irish Riding Establishments and the Welsh Trekking and Riding Association to offer an autumn programme of six courses culminating in examinations for Assistant Ride Leaders, Ride Leaders and Riding Holiday Centre Managers.
Participants will refresh their knowledge on a three-day course before taking the exam at the relevant level to gain a British Equestrian Tourism (BET) qualification.
The exam dates are:
Thursday 6 October at Yorkshire Dales Trekking Centre, Yorkshire; Thursday 6 October at Calliaghstown Riding Centre, Dublin; Friday 4 November at Necarne Castle, Northern Ireland; Thursday 10 November at Crieff Hydro, Scotland; Friday 25 November at Burley Villa Riding Centre, Hampshire.
Chris Doran, Senior Executive in BHS's Approvals Department, said:
"These are internationally recognised and industry-relevant qualifications which enhance the standards at trekking and holiday riding centres and help to keep down the cost of insurance premiums.
"The scheme has been running since 1997 and has proved a great success.
The exams are aimed primarily at Ride Leaders and Assistant Ride Leaders but we can arrange exams for the highest category, Riding Holiday Centre Manager, on request."
Candidate fees are £115 for Assistant Ride Leader, £135 for Ride Leader and £200 for Riding Holiday Centre Manager.
