The BHS Queen’s Award for Equestrianism presented to Jane Holderness-Roddam

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal presented Jane Holderness-Roddam with the prestigious British Horse Society Queen’s Award for Equestrianism at the Royal Windsor Horse Show yesterday.
The Award, which is made on the recommendation of the Trustees of The British Horse Society, is "For Outstanding Services to Equestrianism".
BHS Chairman Patrick Print FBHS said: "It is difficult to think of any other equestrian who, having first achieved high acclaim as a competitor, has gone on to earn such high distinction by energetically promoting the interests of others within the sport.”
Mrs Holderness-Roddam was selected from 13 nominees submitted by member bodies of the British Equestrian Federation. The other nominees were: Lady Perdita Blackwood, Douglas H D Bunn, Mr Richard (Dick) Carey, Stephen Clarke FBHS, Tim Holderness-Roddam, Professor Derek Knottenbelt OBE BVM&S DipECEIM MRCVS, Mrs Sue Rogers, Mr Doug Smith, Ms Francesca Stromberg, Mr Hugh Thomas, Major Richard Waygood LG (Rtd) and Mrs Dawn Wofford.
The 13 names were reduced to a shortlist of three by a selection committee chaired by Patrick Print FBHS (Chairman of The British Horse Society) and comprising the Chairman of the various Member Bodies of the British Equestrian Federation and a representative of the Household Cavalry. The final choice was made by the BHS Board of Trustees.
