STAR VOLUNTEER IS HONOURED BY PRINCESS ANNE

Rosemary Barlow, queen of fundraising and hospitality for British Eventing, was presented with a Torch Trophy Trust award by the Princess Royal on 7 December at a prestigious ceremony. These annual awards are given in recognition of outstanding volunteers in the world of sport.

British horse sports rely heavily on the generosity of volunteers raising vital funding for training, travelling and equipment, ensuring that the most talented riders have the opportunity to represent their country, regardless of personal circumstance.

"We are absolutely delighted and thrilled for Rosemary" says Peter Durrant, Chief Executive of British Eventing, "Her fundraising efforts in the sport for our international teams are testament to the drive and determination of this special lady. There is no doubt in my mind that, through her hard work, she has contributed to the successes our riders have achieved as individuals as well as teams.”

Andrew Finding, Chief Executive of the British Equestrian Federation is also delighted at the news: “It is wonderful that Rosemary has been recognised through this award. She has raised substantial funds and provided support at the highest level of British Eventing. Her actions have directly contributed to the quality and development of the sport, and this naturally benefits people at every level, from grass roots to Olympic level. In over twenty years of fundraising with the Horse Trials Support Group and British Equestrian Olympic Fund, Rosemary has provided over £1 million.”
