STRATSTONE LANDROVER TO SPONSOR WELSH EQUINE COUNCIL and the first WELSH FESTIVAL OF THE HORSE

The dealerships of STRATSTONE LANDROVER in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea were today unveiled as the main sponsors of the Welsh Festival of the Horse and the Welsh Equine Council.

Lance Tyrill - Dealer Principal at Stratstone Land Rover Newport, said "At Stratstone Land Rover we're delighted to be announcing our support for the Welsh Equine Council, and Welsh Equestrianism. This is a rapidly growing area of the Welsh economy, and has huge potential right across the country. Through our Land Rover dealerships in Newport, Cardiff, and Swansea, and through the support of Land Rover UK, we believe that we are the perfect partner to help the Welsh Equine Council maximise that potential."

Welsh Equine Council Chairman, Martyn Williams said, “We are very pleased to have such high profile partners for what promises to be a high profile event. The support from Stratstone Landrover is invaluable, and hopefully it will continue for a long time”.

The Festival, to be held at Margam Park April 16th and 17th 2006, promises to be a bumper occasion with hundreds of participants. There has already been huge interest from the equine industry in Wales and beyond.

From Shires and Shetlands to fast and furious games and stunt riders, this none competitive, family orientated ‘Gala’ event will offer an opportunity to showcase the wide variety of equestrian activities and skills in Wales to a broader audience. Margam Castle will also host a major exhibition of works of art utilizing various media and technologies, all with an equine theme. The horse is an important part of Welsh history and culture, which this event will celebrate.

Mr Williams added “As well as the support of Stratstone, we are also delighted to have the South Wales Evening Post as our media partner, and the support of the South West Wales Tourism Partnership”.

“Our members in North East Wales are organising their own event on April 22nd at Northop Hall. That also promises to be a pioneering initiative to raise the profile of Welsh Equestrianism, and to make horse related activities more accessible to all”.
