Ireland sweeps the board at Hickstead’s schools and pony club championships

Ireland swept the board at the 2005 National Schools and Pony Club Jumping Championships, held at the All England Jumping Course, Hickstead.

Kilkenny College, Ireland, took first and third places in the senior schools championships and first in the junior class. In addition, the college’s Vincent Byrne, riding Little Toby, won the junior individual title and Danny Mullins went into third place.

Wiltshire-based Stonar School split Kilkenny’s hold on the senior classes in a tense, three-way jump off which was decided on time after all three teams finished on four faults. Aimee Pierce, on Home Flight II, took the individual title back to Heathfield Community College in East Sussex.

In the Pony Club Championship, the title went to Northern Ireland’s Iveagh after a jump off with Crickhowell, while team member Declan McParland with Mischief went home as individual champion. Iveagh’s second team tied for third place with the Garth Pony Club.
