MITSUBISHI MOTORS TO SPONSOR PONY CLUB TETRATHLON
The Pony Club has announced that it has signed a major three-year sponsorship with leading motor manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors UK to sponsor its Tetrathlon Championships and qualifying series as well as the Novice Championship. The agreement will cover the Championships from 2005 to 2007 inclusive.
The Pony Club Mitsubishi Motors Tetrathlon Championships is the culmination of 19 qualifying competitions all around the country and the finals will be held at the Warwickshire College of Agriculture, Moreton Morrell, Warwickshire from 19th – 21st August 2005.
Started in 1969 and combining cross-country riding with running, shooting and swimming, Tetrathlon was originally introduced as a competition solely for boys but is now open to both boys and girls.
From Tetrathlon, Pony Club competitors often move into Modern Pentathlon and former Pony Club Members Georgina Harland and Kate Allenby have been particularly successful gaining Individual Olympic Bronze Medals at the Athens and Sydney Games respectively.
Of the sponsorship Pony Club Chairman, Mary Anderson, said: “We are delighted to have secured this prestigious sponsorship with Mitsubishi Motors. We believe that the cross-marketing opportunities that this represents will be highly beneficial for both organisations and we look forward to a long and happy association with the team at Mitsubishi Motors.”
Haydn Davies of Mitsubishi Motors said: “The Pony Club is the bedrock of the equestrian world and the starting point for riders across the equestrian disciplines. We are heavily involved in the equestrian field with our sponsorship of Badminton Horse Trials and Hartpury College, and we are delighted to extend this support to the Tetrathlon Championships.”
Mitsubishi Motors has supported The Pony Club in its 75th anniversary year by providing the charity with a Shogun Pinin as the prize for a nationwide raffle. The company will also be supporting The Pony Club 75th anniversary Show Jumping Competition at Olympia in December.
