LAS VEGAS WORLD INVITATIONAL OPENS BOX OFFICE
Las Vegas World Invitational, which takes place at the Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, NV, USA, October 14-15, 2005, has opened its box office for ticket sales. This inaugural event offers a world record purse of $1 million to 25 of the world’s best show jumpers competing in four events including the richest ever Grand Prix worth $750,000. Billed as ‘The Ultimate Equestrian Event’ in the entertainment capital of the world, the Las Vegas World Invitational is a new and exciting concept designed to attract the top riders and appeal to a wider audience by hosting just four different competitions over the two days and providing innovative entertainment for its audience.
The event, which is sanctioned by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), will feature Let It Ride—a head to head speed event; The Masters—a winner-takes-all competition where the fences are raised until one competitor is left in the competition; The Ride & Drive—where riders jump a course then dismount and drive a vehicle; and the ultimate Grand Prix which will be the climax of the show.
Show Organizer, Fairlie Arrow, said, “We have spent three years organizing the ultimate show jumping event, with help from the some of the best brains in the business. LVWI Executive director & FEI director, Simon Brooks Ward, who manages Olympia in London as well as the Royal Windsor show, among others, worked with Olaf Peterson, I and several of the worlds top riders to create the next generation of show jumping. We think we have succeeded. Equus Entertainment in Sports is producing a two-part program, which will be aired on network television with the aim of attracting new fans to the sport. Its fresh and dynamic approach will include cutting-edge motion picture techniques that show the skill and courage of horse and rider in top-flight competition. It will also go backstage to bring stories about the competitors, an explanation of the sport and an analysis of the competition by leading professionals.
