Robert Whitaker from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire has capped a fantastic week at Olympia The London International Horse by storming to victory in the winner takes all H&M Christmas Masters and has also been crowned the Leading Rider of the 100th Centenary Show.
Seven of the Show’s top riders went head to head and after four rounds, when some of the fences had reached over five foot six inches, four riders were tying, therefore a jump off would have to decide the winner. Robert, riding Clare Whitaker’s Prima Vera was drawn last to go and knowing exactly what he had to do, shaved 0.3 of a second off Alois Pollman’s Schweckhorst’s time, ensuring he takes home the £14,500 winner takes all prize.
Tonight’s victory added to wins earlier in the week in The Earls Court and Olympia Santa Stakes and The Christmas Eve Six Bar and a sensational second place in Thursday night’s Grand Prix means Robert is also awarded the Leading Rider of the Show Trophy and a further cheque of £10,000
